The 2022 Sailing Convention for Women was postponed, so there’s still time to register for the premier event of its kind.
Since its founding in 1990, each February the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club in Newport Beach, California, is filled to capacity with women from near and far for the annual Sailing Convention for Women. The convention features lectures and hands-on workshops geared toward all levels from beginners to experienced women sailors. Following the new California health mandates for indoor meeting restrictions, the 2022 convention was moved to April 2–3, leaving additional time to sign up.
“The Convention gives women an opportunity to meet other women sailors; discuss options for cruising, racing and recreational sailing; and find out about women’s sailing organizations in their area, as well as instructional programs available,” explains founder and producer, Gail Hine. “We have something meaningful for everyone.”
The event features land-based and on-the-water sailing workshops and classes that cover a range of topics including Docking, Marine Navigation, Going Up the Mast, Sail Trim Basic, and Anchoring, Suddenly Singlehanded, Catamaran Cruising, and Prepare for Passagemaking.
BoatU.S. has been a major sponsor of the conference for more than 30 years, along with many local marine-related businesses. The Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club (BCYC) is the hosting venue as it has been for the past 28 years. Registration is $250 through March 26, 2022. Late registration (and walk-ins) received after March 27, 2022, is $275. For information, contact Gail Hine or Lisa Cullinane.
